Osun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has disowned a faction of the Accord Party which reportedly produced Mr Bamigbola Clement as its governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026, gubernatorial election in the state.

A statement by the state publicity secretary, Dr Gbenga Afeni, in Osogbo on Wednesday stated that Osun IPAC and INEC, as provided for by the Electoral Act of 2022, served as observers at the Accord Party governorship primary election that produced Governor Ademola Adeleke as their candidate.

The council called on the Osun commissioner of police, Mr Ibrahim Gotam and other security operatives to investigate and bring to book the alleged faceless individuals who were out to cause confusion that could undermine our democracy.

The statement read in part: “The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) is the only umbrella body of all registered political parties recognised by INEC and the Nigerian constitution.

The platform is to promote sustenance of a free, fair, credible, transparent, inclusive and peaceful electoral environment in Nigeria”.

Afeni stated further that there are nineteen registered political parties in Nigeria, and all are fully visible in Osun State, with their names and phone numbers available at the state INEC office for perusal.

He contended that the chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Pastor Victor Akande, is the current IPAC state chairman, adding that the recognised national chairman of the party is Maxwell Mgbudem.

IPAC appealed to the electorate in Osun to remain calm in the face of provocation, adding that relevant stakeholders would not allow any troublemakers to cause a crisis in the peaceful state.
