Kano State Government has extended warm felicitations to Christians in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Christmas, urging them to use the season to pray for peace, unity and national stability.
The commissioner for Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmad Auwalu, made the call in a statement yesterday, where he encouraged Christians to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ and offer prayers for peace and tranquillity in Nigeria.

Auwalu reaffirmed the state government’s commitment, under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, to protecting life and property, stressing that the administration remains dedicated to serving all residents of Kano, regardless of their religious or ethnic differences.

He emphasised the need for unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds, noting that such values are critical to sustaining harmony in Kano State.

The commissioner prayed for God’s blessings upon Christians and all residents of the state, wishing them a joyous and peaceful Christmas celebration. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and mutual understanding.

Meanwhile, the minister in charge of the First Baptist Church in Kano, Reverend Armstrong Ajayi, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the prevailing socio-economic and security challenges, expressing optimism that 2026 will bring renewed hope and blessings.

Ajayi made the call during a Christmas sermon delivered yesterday in Kano, where he said the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises hope, joy and salvation for mankind.
