A Benue State governorship aspirant, Prof. Sebastine Hon (SAN) has rejected any form of violence linked to a chieftaincy title proposed in his honour by the Ugondu community in Logo local government area of the state.
The honour was to be conferred in recognition of Hon’s humanitarian efforts, empowerment programmes and legal support to the Tiv people and the state.
Hon said the event was disrupted after his arrival, despite a formal invitation by the community, describing the development as regrettable.
He stressed that he would not accept any recognition that could threaten peace or lead to the loss of lives.
“I am a peace-loving man. No honour or ambition is worth the shedding of blood,” he said.
Hon expressed gratitude to the community for the gesture and disclosed that he left the venue calmly after accepting the recognition to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
