The Chancellor of Covenant University, Bishop David Oyedepo, has tasked matriculating students to imbibe discipline as they begin their studies at the university.
LEADERSHIP report that a total of 3,036 students had their matriculation ceremonies for the 2025/2026 session, of which 2,112 were undergraduates from different courses of study, 329 were from the Covenant Centre for Open and Distance e-Learning (CCODeL), and 595 were postgraduate students.
Speaking, Oyedepo urged students to discipline their tastes, discipline their approach to work, discipline their spending, and discipline their time.
He said, “Be disciplined. Remember, the path to greatness is paved with discipline, and at Covenant University, we place a premium on character. Without character, your talent is a liability.
“So, as you pursue your First Class degrees, pursue a First Class character. Finally, on this note, I welcome all our matriculating students to the Covenant University community. Have a most adventurous experience as you choose to take responsibility.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Timothy Anake, urged the new students to be ready to work and prepared for excellence.
He said, “We continue to invest in world-class infrastructure to ensure your learning experience is seamless. We are dedicated to digital expansion, campus expansion, and industrial partnerships.
“To our matriculants: the road to the top is always under construction. You must be ready to work. As you take your matriculation oath today, realise that you have been admitted into a university that ranks globally.”
