The wife of the Abia State Governor, Pricillia Otti, has called for inclusivity in education in the country to benefit the less privileged and people with disabilities.
Otti made the call while speaking at an international conference on inclusive education and disability in Nigeria, held in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.
The conference was organised by SAFIA Initiative for People with Special Needs and Disabilities, in partnership with Mass Video Educational Resource.
She urged policymakers in the education sector, as well as communities and families in the state, to support the government in promoting inclusive educational policies.
She said the theme of the conference, “Enabling Full Participation: Special Needs and Disabilities in Nigerian Education,” was very important and timely.
The First Lady, who commended the initiative for organising the conference, noted that its vision aligns with the agenda of the state government.
Responding, the founding director of the initiative, Matilda Ogboso, said its priority is the welfare of children, women, vulnerable groups, and people with disabilities.
She thanked Governor Alex Otti for his administration’s reforms in the state and for prioritising the education sector, urging him to sustain the efforts.
