Bauchi State governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has inaugurated the Bauchi State Office of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to enhance coordination and improve the efficiency of the organisation’s operations in the state.

The complex comprises four offices, one for the managing director and three for executive directors, as well as a conference hall, boardroom, state coordinator’s office, surveillance room, kitchen, and four additional offices serving as workstations.

At the official ceremony yesterday, Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining strong synergy and collaboration with the NEDC in order to further strengthen critical sectors of the state’s economy.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, described the humanitarian and developmental interventions of the NEDC in Bauchi State as landmark achievements worthy of commendation, noting that they have continued to positively impact the lives of citizens.

He further assured that Bauchi State would remain a dependable partner to the NEDC and other development partners in harnessing the vast potential for sustainable growth of the state.

On the Mega School handed over to the state government by the Commission, Governor Bala Mohammed stated that the school would complement the state government’s efforts to ensure access to quality and inclusive education for residents.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, explained that the projects were initiated by the Federal Government as part of efforts to rebuild, reconstruct, and develop the North East region following years of devastation caused by insurgency.

He commended the Bauchi State Government for its continuous support to the ministry and the NEDC, and called for sustained cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of intervention projects across the state.

In another development, an inspection team led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, alongside NEDC management staff and members of the House of Representatives Committee on NEDC, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, at his palace on Thursday.

The Minister explained that the visit was aimed at supervising projects awarded and executed by the Commission across the state to ensure that contractors strictly complied with approved designs, standards, and timelines.

According to him, the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that NEDC intervention projects translate into tangible development and improved living conditions for the people of the North East region.

He added that the inspection tour would also provide an opportunity to identify challenges affecting project execution and propose solutions to guarantee sustainability.
