The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has suspended its nationwide strike after 84 days, to allow the federal government to begin full implementation of the agreed terms of settlement reached with the union.
The decision was reached during an expanded emergency hybrid meeting of JOHESU’s National Executive Council (NEC), held on Friday in Abuja.
JOHESU had embarked on an indefinite strike on November 14, 2025, over what it described as the federal government’s failure to implement the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).
JOHESU, in a communiqué signed by its National Chairman, Kabiru Ado Minjibir, and National Secretary, Comrade Martin Adekunle Egbanubi, said the NEC unanimously voted to suspend the action after “exhaustive deliberations” and a review of resolutions reached at a conciliation meeting with government officials.
The communique stated that both parties agreed that the ongoing collective bargaining agreement (CBA) process would be used to address all outstanding defects, gaps, and implementation failures dating back to 2009.
