The Presidency is to establish a coordinated support system for wives and widows of Nigerian military personnel.

Senior special assistant to the president on community engagement (North Central), Abiodun Essiet, led a meeting with the minister of women affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, on the proposal.

The initiative, in partnership with the Stand With A Girl Initiative, is aimed at creating a coordinated support ecosystem for wives and widows of military personnel.

According to the key points of the proposal, the initiative seeks to institutionalise multi-sectoral support covering psychosocial services, economic empowerment, healthcare access, and strengthened social protection for military families.
