The Catholic Women Organization (CWO), of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama district of Abuja, has called on wealthy Christians to always channel their resources to the service of God and humanity for Nigeria to be a better place.

The president of the organisation, Lady Mrs. Tosan Chukwueke made the call on Sunday while presenting awards to some distinguished Nigerians during the Catholic Women Organisation, Holy Trinity Parish, Maitama (CWO) 2022 End of Tenure Award Ceremony in Abuja.

Lady Chukwueke who expressed concern over the rate of poverty in the country said the awards were to recognise the contributions of the Nigerians who have emulated the virtues of Jesus Christ through giving towards ensuring the betterment of the society and ensuring progress in the vineyard of God

She said CWO had over the years embarked on various programmes aimed at improving the well-being of the less privileged and contributed to promoting the propagation of the gospel.

Earlier, the outgoing president of the Organisation, Lady Charity Ohadiugha advised the new leadership of CWO to consolidate the achievements and successes of the Organization when they took over in 2018.

Lady Uhadugha said though, although COVID-19 affected the activities of the organisation, it was able to empower 65 women with N50,000 each, equip the laboratory and furnished the kitchen of Trinity Boys College, Wasa Apo as well as provide educational materials to the College, provide palliatives to less privileged church members and embarked on the construction of Secretariat for the Organization among others

According to her, the organisation also visited orphanages every year and donate food items and cash to assist them among other things

Some of the awardees, Mrs. Evelyn Chidolue, former President of CWO, and Sir Osita Anameze commended CWO for the award and urged the Organization not to relent in its service in God’s vineyard.

They said the award would further encourage them to continue to contribute their quota to the progress and development of society as well as put smiles on the faces of the less privileged
