A group under the auspices of Coalition of Kaduna Stakeholders’ Forum has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai and prosecute him if found culpable.
Addressing a news conference in Kaduna yesterday, the convener of the Forum, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad, advised El-Rufai to submit himself and give account of his eight years tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
The coalition said the law will take its course, and El-Rufai will be held accountable for his actions as no one escapes accountability.
Muhammad however urged the former governor to stop seeking sympathy and dragging people but should fully cooperate with security agencies to clear his name over alleged corruption allegations.
According to the coalition, “ We call on the EFCC, ICPC, and all relevant authorities: do not hesitate. Do not falter. Investigate fully. If culpable, prosecute decisively. Precedence must be set. The rule of law must prevail. No one is above the law. Not El-Rufai.”
“Illegal government call interceptions, potential cybercrime, and land racketeering further demonstrate a pattern of lawlessness. Under the Cybercrimes Act 2015, unlawful interception is a criminal offence and, depending on intent, could constitute treason. Kaduna people demanded accountability. This was not a witch hunt. This was the demand of citizens for justice,” Muhammad stated.
