Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested through a joint security operation at the Ekiti and Kogi States’ border.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that part of the N3 million ransom the abductors collected from the four victims they held hostage for days was also recovered from them.

The security operation was effectively carried out with the combined forces of the military, police, Amotekun corps, local hunters, and security outfit operating under Eradicate Bandits at the Borders of Rural Ajoni Communities (EBBORAC).

Four persons, including a school principal, two teachers and a nurse, it was gathered, were last week abducted at Irele-Ekiti, in Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, and whisked away to an unknown destination by the gunmen.

Upon the payment of N3 million ransom, three of the abductees were  freed, while one of them  escaped from the kidnappers’ den.

Confirming the development to newsmen, in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the chairman of Ajoni LCDA, Hon. Michael Ogungbemi, said that the suspects were nabbed during a joint operation inside the sprawling forest at Irele-Kogi border area.

Ogungbemi said the intensity of the operation made the kidnappers to hurriedly release three victims from captivity, which made the security agents proceed with the combing operation of all forests in the axis.

“Part of the ransom collected from the victims were recovered and the released victims are now in the hospital receiving medical treatments.
