Former minister of transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has asserted that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are afraid of losing the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Amaechi, who is the APC leader in the state, spoke yesterday during a tour of some wards in the Port Harcourt City local government area.

The former River State governor stated that Wike, who was his Chief of Staff is already shouting and panicking.

He said the people of Rivers State are tired of the PDP and are waiting for the APC to come and save them.

The former minister therefore called on the APC members and supporters in Rivers State not to be intimidated by anything Wike and his party does.

Amaechi, who is also former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, urged APC members not to be intimidated but to go all out and mobilise support for the party.

He said, “Please, do not be intimidated by the PDP. I hear that they were going round to stop you from gathering. You must not allow them to stop you. They can only buy those without characters, they are afraid because there is no more writing of results.

“When you see a governor shouting and panicking it means that he is afraid. If you see the ANAP Foundation poll by Atedo Peterside, it says 37 per cent of Rivers people are undecided, what it means is that they don’t like PDP, they are waiting for APC.

“So, please go out and mobilise them to support you to win the election. When we win, we will empower our people, we will give scholarships,” he said.
