Abia Comets Dismiss Head Coach, Teibowei, After Poor Form

Abia Comets have announced the dismissal of their technical adviser, Dipreye Teibowei, following a disappointing run of results.

The club stated that the decision was “unavoidable” after Saturday’s home defeat to Sunshine Stars. Teibowei had previously been given a two-match ultimatum before the start of the second half of the 2025/2026 season.

Despite his sacking, Abia Comets confirmed that Teibowei will continue to receive his full salary until the end of the current season.

Monday Eguavoen will now take charge of the team for the remainder of the campaign. His first task will be to prepare the squad for their upcoming match against Inter Lagos.
