The Nigeria Police Force has promised to respond to evolving threats associated with explosives, improvised explosive devices, and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards.
To this end, it said it had been building the capacity of its Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units across the country to deal with any situation.
The commissioner of police in charge of EOD-CBRN, Hauwa Jibrin Ibrahim, disclosed this at the closing of an expanded training for the personnel at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa State.
The course drew participants from the EOD-CBRN departments of the force across the country.
CP Ibrahim acknowledged that asymmetric threats, terrorism, proliferation risks and misuse of dual-use materials, equipment and technology had continued to pose significant dangers to national security and public safety, even as she assured that through practical training the force would continue to mitigate CBRN and explosive threats in line with global best practices.
