The military strike jointly launched by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran has apparently entered a fierce stage just three days after the US and Israeli strike that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei on Saturday.

Saturday’s attacks led to the death of than 550 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in joint US-Israeli attacks as Iranian allies the Lebanon-based Hezbollah forces have joined the conflict.

On Monday Israeli attacks killed 31 people in Lebanon as the war as more deaths and destruction in the Middle East especially the Gulf States mount with Iran intensifying missiles attacks on Israel and some Gulf countries.

The Lebanese health ministry said that apart from the 31 killed in Beirut and southern Lebanon, 149 others were injured.

Meanwhile Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon have exchanged strikes as the war with Iran widens with Iran missiles continually hitting bases in Bahrain and Dubai, and an oil refinery was set on fire in Saudi Arabia.

Israel said it is striking at the “heart of Tehran” and is launching attacks on Lebanon after Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets at northern Israel.

This followed the warning by US President Donald Trump that the attacks on Iran will continue until all objectives are achieved, and has promised to avenge the deaths of three US soldiers killed on Sunday.

In the meantime “Several” US fighter planes have crashed in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti military said, with the crew unharmed. The cause is being investigated – one plane plummeting to the ground was caught on film.

Israel has also claimed it killed two senior intelligence officials in Iran in the first wave of attacks on the country on February 28. The military statement published on Monday identified the victims as Sayed Yahya Hamidi and Jalal Pour Hussein.

It said Hamidi was deputy minister of intelligence for Israel affairs, claiming he “led terrorist activities targeting Jews, Western actors, and regime opponents in Iran and abroad”.

The statement also claimed Hossein was head of espionage division at Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence, saying “Together with them, additional senior terrorists were eliminated,” it said.

Meanwhile Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, has refuted US media claims that he had made a fresh push to resume nuclear talks with Washington.
