The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) have forged a significant media alliance in anticipation of the 2026 All Africa Golf Challenge Trophy. The partnership aims to provide extensive national and international coverage for the prestigious women’s amateur golf event.
Ali M. Ali, Managing Director of NAN, committed to the collaboration during a meeting with Lami Ahmed, President of LGAN, and her team at the agency’s Abuja headquarters. Mr. Ali highlighted NAN’s extensive reach as Africa’s largest news content provider, operating with over 400 reporters across numerous offices and maintaining global partnerships with leading news agencies.
“We are ready to project your stories nationally and globally,” Mr. Ali stated, assuring LGAN of worldwide visibility for their activities and events. He commended LGAN for their work in promoting women’s golf and for securing the bid to host the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) for a historic third time.
Ms. Ahmed confirmed that Nigeria will host the 2026 AACT from November 2nd to November 7th at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja. The biennial championship is expected to draw participation from over 30 African nations.
“This tournament is more than golf; it is a continental convergence, an economic platform, and a statement of women’s empowerment,” Ms. Ahmed remarked. She emphasised the need for a strategic media partnership to ensure accurate messaging and broad continental reach, aiming to portray Nigeria as “capable, organised, and secure.”
Both parties expressed confidence that the collaboration would significantly enhance the championship’s profile and strengthen Nigeria’s image on the international stage. A joint committee is set to be established to finalise the partnership framework.
