A political and current affairs analyst, Onono Onimisi, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider realtor and philanthropist, Alhaji Sanusi Abdul Sanusi, for the Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal House of Representatives ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Onimisi made the appeal in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, titled, “Why APC Should Give Sanusi Abdul Sanusi (Sanan) the House of Representatives Ticket.”

She said the ruling party must prioritise candidates with genuine grassroots support if it hopes to sustain its dominance in the country’s political landscape.

“In politics, the real strength of any party lies in the support of the people,” she stated.

“As the ruling party, the APC must continue to identify candidates who genuinely command grassroots loyalty. Sanusi Abdul Sanusi, popularly known as Sanan, is one of such individuals.”

Sanusi, an indigene of Inye in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, recently revalidated his APC membership card earlier in the week, a move seen by some observers as signalling his political interest ahead of the next election cycle.

Highlighting his contributions, Onimisi noted that Sanusi had quietly supported youths and vulnerable groups across several communities over the years, earning him widespread goodwill.

“Because of this, he enjoys massive goodwill, especially among young people. It is not an exaggeration to say that Sanan has the youths in the palm of his hand,” she added.

She argued that fielding a candidate like Sanusi would help the party strengthen its bond with the electorate while rewarding sustained community engagement.

“At a time when the APC is positioning itself as a dominant political force in Nigeria, the party needs candidates who truly have the masses on their side.

People like Sanan represent that connection between the party and the grassroots,” she said.
However, uncertainty remains over the party’s zoning arrangement for the federal constituency.

The current lawmaker representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Halims, who is also from Ankpa Local Government Area, is serving his second term on the platform of the APC.

It is still unclear whether the party will retain the ticket in Ankpa or shift it to another local government within the constituency as political permutations ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
