The Nigerian music industry was thrown into turmoil on Sunday evening after popular singer Charles Chibueze Chukwu, popularly known as Crayon, publicly criticised the leadership of his record label, Mavin Records, in a series of social media posts.

The 28-year-old ‘Ngozi’ singer took to X, where he directed comments at the label’s founder, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, as well as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Tega Oghenejobo.

In the posts, Crayon appeared to question decisions within the label while making remarks that suggested internal tensions.

“Don Jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!??” the singer wrote in one of the posts.

He also directed criticism at Tega, referring to him as a “highest criminal,” and went further to suggest that the label could face challenges ahead, writing, “Mavin is going down!!!!!!”

The singer also appeared to express frustration with his label mate and global music star Rema, alleging that Rema had “stolen his star” and stating that there would be no collaboration between them.

“Rema for the next 100 years, no feature. You stole my star from me,” the post read.

Amid the social media outburst, Crayon also dropped hints suggesting that he may have parted ways with the Don Jazzy-led record label.

The singer shared contact details for a new entity, Olodum Entertainment, including a new booking email address for the brand.

Industry observers also noted that Crayon’s recent single, ‘Baami’, was released under the Olodum Entertainment imprint without the usual Mavin Records branding attached to his previous projects.

As the posts circulated widely online, some fans speculated that the singer’s account may have been compromised. However, the artist remained active on his social media platforms without issuing any clarification.

As of the time of filing this report, Mavin Records and the executives mentioned in the posts have not released any official statement regarding the development.

Crayon joined Mavin Records in 2019 under the Blowtime Entertainment imprint and rose to prominence through several hit releases, including his contribution to the Mavin all-star track ‘Overdose’. The latest development has raised questions about the future of his relationship with the label.
