The combined security teams have secured the release of the remaining two cocoa farmers who were abducted during a visit to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan on Saturday.

It was gathered that the police were able to secure the release of two of the four victims, as well as the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in connection with the incident, barely 24 hours after it happened.

It was also gathered that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N100 million before releasing the victims.

The chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Akeem Olatunji, confirmed that all the victims have now been released.

He added that their release was made possible through the concerted efforts of a combined team comprising the police, the Directorate of State Services, the Western Security Network, code-named Amotekun, and the Oluyole local vigilante.

He stated that the rescue team had handed over the victims to the police.

Olatunji further noted that the operation was coordinated by the security adviser to the Oyo State governor, CP Fatai Owoseni.

The local government chairman commended the team for their concerted efforts and assured residents of the area of his willingness to continue collaborating with relevant security agencies.
