A prominent diaspora stakeholder in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Usman Tijjani Shehu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dr. Shehu said his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

Announcing his return to the APC, he explained that the move was driven by the need to realign politically in support of national development, youth inclusion, and human capital growth, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“After rigorous consultations and strategic engagements with our supporters and key stakeholders, we have resolved to rejoin our former political family, the APC, and contribute meaningfully to its growth and success,” he said.

He pledged to mobilise grassroots and diaspora support for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election, assuring of his loyalty at all levels.

Dr. Shehu, a UK-based healthcare professional and community leader, holds the traditional title of Zannan Kabo in Kano State, Dan Isan Hausawan Turai, reflecting his influence both at home and in the diaspora.

A trained physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal disorders and public health, he has worked with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano and General Ahmadi Rimi Orthopaedic and Specialist Hospital in Katsina. He is also a director at Ozone Properties Ltd, Salford.

He previously served as Youth Leader of the APC UK Chapter and was a member of the Operations and Logistics Sub-Committee of the National Progressives Youth Conference held in Abuja in 2021, where he represented the diaspora.
