Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising staff welfare, strengthening quality assurance and improving infrastructure as part of efforts to reposition the institution for higher standards.

According to the polytechnic’s acting coordinator, Public Relations and Protocol  John Amos Onimisi, the rector spoke during a series of familiarisation visits to key units of the school, emphasising his resolve to translate promises into tangible actions to benefit both staff and students.

He said the engagements began with visits to the School of Applied Sciences, the School of General and Communication Studies, and the School of Management Studies, culminating in a meeting with the management, board, staff, teachers and parents of pupils of the Polytechnic Staff School.

During the interactions, the staff members welcomed his appointment and commended his humility and openness to dialogue.

They also pledged support for his administration while presenting requests focused on improved welfare, better working condition and enhanced institutional support.

In his responses, Prof. Avidime thanked the staff for their goodwill and cooperation, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed within a reasonable timeframe.

The rector said under his watch, no academic unit will operate under poor conditions, revealing plans to rehabilitate existing facilities and construct new ones where necessary to create a more conducive learning and working environment.

On financial matters, he said all outstanding staff allowances would be cleared, a promise that drew applause from the stakeholders.

The familiarisation visits, according to the rector, were part of his efforts to build trust and foster stronger collaboration between the management and staff, as he continues to drive a pragmatic leadership approach aimed at achieving excellence, efficiency and sustainable growth for the polytechnic.
