The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected social miscreants in a sweeping overnight operation aimed at curbing rising criminal activities within the Katsina metropolis.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the arrests were made during an intelligence-led raid conducted in the early hours of April 14, 2026.
The operation, which began at about 2:00 a.m., was led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
Police operatives targeted identified criminal hideouts and black spots across the metropolis, leading to the apprehension of suspects allegedly involved in gang-related activities, unlawful societies, and acts constituting public nuisance.
Items recovered during the operation include live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a sharp knife, sticks, a saw, six suspected stolen mobile phones, substances believed to be Indian hemp, 500 pieces of Exol tablets, and a pair of military camouflage shirts.
Police authorities confirmed that all the suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the success of the operation reflects the Command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain ongoing efforts against all forms of criminality and called on residents to support the police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
