Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has stated that his administration is gradually recording success in its fight against banditry and other forms of criminality in the state.

He stated this while declaring open the State Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chamber on Thursday.

The governor noted that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is making steady progress in its sustained efforts to combat banditry affecting 13 local government areas of the state.

“I am happy to inform you that our renewed commitment to ensuring a secure Sokoto State is yielding tremendous success.

“We will not relent in this effort until all displaced communities return to their ancestral homes,” he said.

Governor Aliyu assured security agencies of his administration’s continued support to enable them to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.

He called on the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting the government and security agencies by providing useful information that could help expose criminal elements wherever they may be.

The governor also urged residents, especially those in rural communities, to identify and expose informants within their communities, describing them as enemies of peace who must be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing purposeful leadership that will transform the state.

Governor Aliyu further solicited continued support and prayers from the people to enable his administration to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens.

He also expressed gratitude to members of the State Executive Council for their immense contributions to the development of the state.
