The member representing Bichi Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a N1.5 trillion railway project for Kano, describing it as a major step towards boosting economic growth in the state.
Bichi said the project, captured in the 2025 appropriation, reflects the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
He noted that the railway line would enhance connectivity, ease movement within the metropolis, and strengthen Kano’s position as a commercial hub.
According to him, the initiative will facilitate trade, create opportunities, and stimulate economic activities across the state, adding that modern rail systems have proven effective in major cities around the world.
The lawmaker also commended the president’s broader development agenda, particularly investments in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and education.
He dismissed claims that the administration has neglected northern Nigeria, insisting that several projects have been initiated in the region across key sectors, including security and road infrastructure.
Bichi cited ongoing projects such as the Kaduna–Zaria–Kano road, the Abuja–Kaduna highway, the Kano Northern Bypass, and the Emergency and Trauma Centre at the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to the region.
He added that these efforts have strengthened public confidence in the administration, expressing optimism that the people of Kano State would reciprocate with support in the 2027 general elections.
