President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, the new deputy governor of Kano State, following his swearing-in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday.
Governor Yusuf nominated Garo to fill the vacant position created by the departure of Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, who resigned in the aftermath of the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The 48-year-old politician had served in various positions, including chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the erstwhile administration of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
He was also the APC governorship running mate during the 2023 elections.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, which solidified the much-needed unity within the ranks of the APC in Kano State.
The President urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation.
He urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development.
President Tinubu wished Mr Garo well in the new responsibility.
