Former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant and Secretary to Government of the Federation, George Akume’s ally, Terwase Matthias Byuan, has resigned from the ruling party and joined Labour Party (LP) to contest Benue State 2027 governorship elections.

Byuan, former Executive Director Housing Finance and Accounts, Federal Housing Authority, Abuja, recently purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest against the incumbent governor Hyacinth Alia who is seeking second term in office.

In a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, Byuan’s campaign spokesperson, Akange Nyagba, confirmed that his principal joined Labour Party, “Yes, my principal resigned from APC and joined Labour Party.”

Welcoming the former APC governorship aspirant, member House of Representatives representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese, said Byuan joining the Labour Party was a boost to the party ahead of 2027 elections.

Agbese, who also joined the Labour Party recently in a statement stated, “It is with great pleasure and excitement that I officially welcome Dr. Terwase Matthias Byuan into the Labour Party family,” Agbese said.
