Team Nigeria added a second gold medal to its tally on Day 2 of the African Athletics Championships, storming to victory in the Mixed 4x400m relay on Wednesday night.
The quartet of Ezekiel Asuquo, Toheebat Jimoh, Victor Sampson, and Patience Okon-George combined superbly to bring the baton home in 3:16.41, edging out rivals from Botswana and Kenya.
The Nigerian team showed excellent coordination and speed, with anchor leg runner Patience Okon-George holding off a late charge to secure the top spot on the podium.
The performance marks Nigeria’s second gold of the championships, following Tobi Amusan’s earlier triumph .
With the win, Nigeria continues to build momentum at the continental showpiece, aiming for more medals in the remaining days of competition.
