Concerned stakeholders and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have called on the leadership of the party to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process ahead of the party primaries in the state.
The stakeholders raised concerns over allegations of attempts to manipulate delegate and electoral outcomes against Senator Isah Jibrin, popularly known as Echocho.
In a statement signed by the Kogi East Coordinator of the group, Engr Sunday Anaja, the stakeholders warned that any attempt to impose fabricated results or compromise the integrity of the process could undermine public confidence and internal democracy within the APC.
According to the statement, party unity and the credibility of the APC can only be sustained when every aspirant is guaranteed fairness and equal opportunity during the primaries.
“We respectfully call on the National Working Committee and the national headquarters of the APC to urgently take note of these concerns and ensure that all processes remain transparent, credible, fair, and in strict compliance with the constitution and guidelines of the party,” the statement read.
The group urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately investigate the allegations and ensure that authentic results and due process prevail at all levels of the exercise.
It further called on the party leadership to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and sanction any individual or group found culpable of acts capable of bringing the APC into disrepute.
The stakeholders stressed that members and supporters across Kogi State were closely monitoring developments and expected the party leadership to act decisively in defence of transparency, equity, and justice.
“The credibility of the party’s democratic processes must not be compromised under any circumstance. Members and supporters across Kogi State and beyond are keenly observing developments and expect the leadership to act decisively in defence of transparency, equity, and party cohesion,” the statement added.
The group expressed confidence that the APC leadership would protect the integrity of the party’s internal democratic process and ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.
