Police Detain Bauchi Man For Allegedly Defiling Nephew’s Daughter

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, over an alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Guru Village, Bauchi.

The command said the victim’s 45-year-old father reported the incident to the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Government Reserved Area (GRA) Bauchi, on May 15, 2026.

The complainant alleged that Yusuf, who is his nephew, lured his 14-year-old daughter outside their residence on May 14, 2026, and sexually assaulted her.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said police operatives promptly responded to the report, arrested the suspect and took the victim to the Police Clinic for medical attention.

He said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The command assured the public that the matter would be handled with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity, in accordance with the law.

The police commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu urged members of the public to continue reporting any form of abuse or criminal activity to the nearest police station.

He reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on crimes against minors and women.
