The police have arrested four suspects for allegedly collecting N9.290 million from two intending pilgrims to secure them hajj slots from the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency for the 2026 Hajj.

The command’s spokesperson SP Bashir Usman revealed this in a statement he issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

The suspects are Aminu Hassan Zauro, Tabiu Abubakar, Usman Attahiru and Mustapha Sani Zauro while four others: Bello Jos, Atiku Stores, Umar Gimba and Usman Bunza are at large.

Usman said the four suspects were arrested following a complaint received from the pilgrims agency by the command.

He said Aminu Hassan Zauro who was the principal suspect allegedly defrauded one of the victims the sum of N8.600 million under the promise of securing two seats for him in the 2026 hajj.

The prime suspect was also accused of receiving the sum of N690.000 from another victim as deposit and presented fake hajj materials such as bags and medical records to him.

The command recovered all the fake materials from the victims and promised to arrest the other fleeing four suspects for prosecution.
