Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori says his administration has executed projects across the state over the past three years without borrowing funds.
The governor spoke yesterday at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, as the administration marked its third anniversary in office.
Oborevwori said the event was organised to appreciate God for the administration’s journey since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
According to him, the state government had implemented programmes and infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards across Delta State.
He stated that contracts awarded by the administration were backed by available funds, adding that the government had continued to meet obligations to contractors.
“We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute development projects all over the state without borrowing a kobo from anybody or bank. Every contract that we give out, the money is available,” he said.
The governor also spoke on security in the state, describing peace as important for development and investment.
He commended security agencies for their efforts in maintaining law and order and acknowledged the contributions of former governors of the state, including Chief James Ibori, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
Oborevwori further called for unity among residents and urged continued support for the government.
In a sermon titled “Ever Increasing Progress,” cleric Apostle Joshua Selman said sustained progress requires discipline, focus and commitment to purpose.
Selman identified principles he described as necessary for growth, including humility, knowledge, strategic relationships and thanksgiving.
The event also featured praise ministrations by gospel artistes, including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete, M & Revelation, Jerry Ekpekuro and Solo Kings.
Among dignitaries present were former governors James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone, as well as members of the House of Representatives, including Francis Waive, Jonathan Ukodhiko and Nnamdi Ezechi.
