The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Kpautagi, has outlined his priorities for the state after emerging as the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming governorship election.

Speaking after his victory at the party’s primary election, Kpautagi said his administration would pursue an inclusive approach to governance if elected, with a focus on ensuring that all sections of the state are represented regardless of ethnic, religious or political differences.

According to him, no citizen would be excluded from governance on the basis of tribe, religion or political affiliation, adding that his administration would prioritise fairness and equitable distribution of resources across the state’s 25 local government areas.

The ADC candidate identified security, agriculture, education, healthcare and youth employment as key areas of focus. He also said he would respect local government autonomy and involve traditional rulers, women, youths and civil society organisations in governance.

Kpautagi stressed the need for experience and consultation in leadership, noting that he would seek the advice of elders and senior citizens on important state matters.
He further stated that his campaign would focus on policy issues rather than personal attacks, arguing that discussions on development, security, job creation and the future of young people should dominate political discourse in the state.
