The gubernatorial candidate of very African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, Barrister Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed, has dismissed reports alleging that he has withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race, insisting that he remains firmly in the contest.

In a statement issued in Gusau by his spokesperson, Salisu Mohamed Mada, the ADC candidate described the circulating reports as false and misleading, saying they were designed to cause confusion within the political space.

The statement said Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed remains the duly elected candidate of the ADC for the 2027 governorship election in Zamfara State.

It added that the reports suggesting his withdrawal were “malicious, fabricated, and misleading,” attributing them to what it called desperate political actors seeking to undermine the democratic process.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Barr. Mahadi Aliyu Muhammad duly participated in the ADC gubernatorial primary election, emerged victorious, was officially declared the winner, and subsequently accepted the mandate bestowed upon him by party members,” the statement read.

It further stressed that he remains the authentic and undisputed governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State.

The statement warned those behind the rumour to desist from spreading false information, noting that such actions undermine democratic values and could attract legal consequences.

“Those behind this fraudulent narrative are advised to desist immediately, as such actions are detrimental to democratic values and may attract appropriate legal consequences,” it added.

The clarification comes amid growing political speculation and early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections in Zamfara State.
