World football governing body FIFA has announced a major change to the traditional pre-match ceremony for future FIFA World Cup matches, introducing a new format designed to enhance the spectacle before kick-off.

Under the new arrangement, players will no longer line up in two parallel rows alongside match officials before the start of games, a long-standing feature of international football tournaments.

Instead, both teams, including their substitutes, will gather in separate circles within their respective halves of the pitch. The revised format aims to create a more unified team presentation while offering fans a fresh visual experience ahead of matches.

As part of the ceremony, the national anthems of the competing nations will be played while two giant national flags are displayed across each half of the field, providing a dramatic backdrop to the pre-match proceedings.

FIFA said the changes form part of efforts to modernise the tournament experience and further elevate the atmosphere surrounding the world’s biggest football competition.
