Swedish club AIK is reportedly turning to young Nigerian winger Shedrack Egboh as a potential successor to Zadok Yohanna, who recently departed for the English Premier League.

Yohanna, 18, made headlines last weekend when he completed a record-breaking move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

He is now poised to become just the second Nigerian to play for the Seagulls, following former Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun.

According to sources, AIK plans to invite Egboh for a trial this summer. The Stockholm-based club wants to evaluate the teenager’s abilities before deciding on a possible transfer. If the trial goes well, AIK is expected to move quickly to secure the highly rated winger.

At just 18, Egboh is already considered one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents and has drawn interest from several other European clubs.

Following Yohanna’s departure, AIK’s recruitment chief Miika Takkula reaffirmed the club’s commitment to its proven strategy: signing promising youngsters, developing them, and eventually selling them on to bigger clubs.

“A key part of our approach is to bring in young players with potential, help them grow, and later facilitate their moves,” Takkula explained.

“Yohanna’s sale is a perfect example of how we want to operate. This is a big and important moment for us — sticking to the plan and not getting distracted.”

He added: “Our goal is to build a competitive team while increasing the squad’s market value. We’ll continue with the same model — many young players with high upside, combined with a core of experienced stars in their prime.”
