Man Arrested For Stalking US Pop Star Sabrina Carpenter, Fights Restraining Order

A 31-year-old man arrested outside the home of American pop star Sabrina Carpenter has approached a United States court to fight a restraining order filed against him by the singer.

The suspect, identified as William Applegate, is asking the court to deny Carpenter’s request for a permanent protection order that would stop him from coming near her.

The singer had earlier obtained a temporary restraining order against Applegate after the police arrested him for trying to gain entry into her house.

According to court documents, Applegate claimed that the singer did not actually want the protection order. He argued that the legal action was forced upon her by her security team, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and her lawyers.

He further claimed that Carpenter’s recent music performances at the Coachella festival were directed at him, and asserted that the singer’s family was fully aware of his presence outside her house.

However, Carpenter and her security team presented a completely different account of the events in their court filings.

The singer stated that Applegate is a total stranger whom she has never met or spoken with. She explained that the suspect first tried to enter her home through the front door on May 23, where he lied to her security guards and the police that he knew her personally.

The musician added that despite being arrested, the suspect returned to her residence 24 hours after his release and showed up again the following day, forcing her team to call the police back to the property.

The court has scheduled a full hearing on the matter for later this month to determine whether to make the restraining order permanent.
