PRP Accuses Kwankwaso Of Hijacking 69 Kano Nomination Forms, Threatens Lawsuit

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Northwest Stakeholders Forum has accused former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of allegedly hijacking nomination forms for 69 elective positions under the party’s platform and threatened legal action over the development.

The forum claimed that the nomination forms were purchased by an individual who is not a member of the PRP, describing the development as a serious threat to internal democracy and party integrity.

The allegation was made by the chairman of the PRP Northwest Stakeholders Forum, Abdulkadir Musa, during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Kano on Sunday.

Musa alleged that the action was linked to Kwankwaso, insisting that it amounted to an attempt to take control of the party structure and deny genuine members the opportunity to contest elections.

“It has been confirmed that nomination forms for all the 69 elective positions under the platform of the PRP have been purchased by one individual who is not even a member of our party,” Musa said.

He described the alleged action as “political robbery,” warning that it could create confusion and trigger disputes within the party’s electoral process.

According to him, the affected positions include the governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats.

Musa added that the party had credible members who had already shown interest in contesting under its platform, stressing that their democratic rights must be protected.

“We appeal to Senator Kwankwaso to allow political parties to operate independently and democratically. The PRP should be spared from what we consider a deliberate attempt to interfere with its internal affairs,” he said.

He warned that the party would not hesitate to pursue legal action if the alleged interference continued.

“Should this continue, legal action will be our only option in defending the integrity and independence of our party,” Musa added.

The PRP chieftain further claimed that similar incidents had been recorded in other political parties, warning that such practices could undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.

He said the party would release additional details and supporting documents on the matter at a later date as the controversy continues to generate political reactions in Kano State.
