Association of Nigerian University Registrars (ARNU) will convene its 4th annual workshop in Abuja, alongside its 79th business meeting from today to Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The six-day gathering, according to a press statement by Mrs Atinuke Oguntunde, the public relations officer of ARNU, will draw registrars from federal, state and private universities across Nigeria to engage in discussions on pressing issues shaping university administration, governance, and sustainable development within the higher education sector.

This year’s workshop is themed “Nigerian Universities in the Era of Technological Transformation: Challenges, Opportunities, and Pathways to Sustainable Growth.”

“The theme reflects growing calls for Nigerian universities to adapt to rapid technological change while harnessing emerging opportunities to improve efficiency, institutional development, and global competitiveness.

“Deliberations will focus on key areas including the evolving Nigerian university system in the 21st century, with particular attention to the paradox of funding constraints and institutional autonomy.

“Participants will also examine the role of universities as catalysts for the success of the national data protection agenda, exploring challenges, expectations and future prospects,” the statement added.

Other focus areas include perspectives on effective university management from the office of a vice-chancellor, as well as advancing performance systems to promote sustainable growth in Nigeria’s ivory towers through a shift towards a new administrative paradigm.

The workshop is expected to feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and technical sessions delivered by leading academics, experienced administrators and policy experts.
