Around 7,000 tickets remained unsold on FIFA’s official ticketing platforms less than 24 hours before England and France meet in the FIFA World Cup third-place play-off on Saturday.
Figures available at 10:00 a.m. on Friday showed that 1,246 tickets were still available through FIFA’s general sales platform, with prices ranging from $865 to $1,125.
A further 5,864 tickets were listed on FIFA’s official resale platform, where Category Three seats were available from $455, excluding FIFA’s 15 per cent resale service fee.
The resale market also featured a number of discounted premium seats. One ticket originally priced at $1,125 was being offered for $659, highlighting efforts by holders to recoup part of their costs ahead of kick-off.
The figures suggest demand for the bronze-medal encounter has fallen short of expectations, despite the fixture featuring two of Europe’s football heavyweights.
Meanwhile, tickets also remained available for Sunday’s World Cup final, where Spain will face Argentina in the tournament’s showpiece match.
FIFA’s ticketing platform showed 32 premium general-sale tickets still on offer, with prices ranging from $29,995 to $32,970. In addition, more than 1,000 tickets were listed on the official resale platform at prices close to face value, subject to applicable fees.
The resale listings also included an eye-catching asking price of $2 million for a single ticket to the final. However, resale prices are determined by individual sellers and do not necessarily reflect the amount at which tickets are ultimately sold.
The availability of tickets for both the third-place play-off and the World Cup final comes as fans make last-minute purchasing decisions ahead of the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
