The director-general of the Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu/Dikko (GMTD), Abubakar Tsanni, says the group has established a grassroots structure comprising about 1.097 million members across Katsina State to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in the 2027 general elections.

Tsanni made the claim during an interactive session with youth groups and organisations in Katsina, where he outlined the mobilisation strategy adopted by the movement.

According to him, the organisation has built structures at the state, zonal, local government, ward and polling unit levels across the state.

He explained that the mobilisation model consists of five coordinators at each local government, five at the ward level and five at each polling unit, supported by an additional 10-member extension team.

“Today, we have about 165 persons working in each polling unit. When you multiply that by the 6,651 polling units in Katsina State, you arrive at approximately 1,097,000 people who form our grassroots structure for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Dikko Radda in 2027,” he said.

Tsanni said the movement was established under the leadership of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and is being coordinated in the state by Muttaqa Rabe Darma, whom he described as committed to mobilising support for the current administration.

He added that 37 groups and organisations had so far registered to work with the movement, noting that more groups were indicating interest in joining the campaign structure.

Earlier, the minister’s representative, Danlami Kurfi, commended the women and youth groups for their support and praised the progress recorded by GMTD within a few months of its establishment.

He urged members to ignore criticisms from opposition parties, expressing confidence that President Tinubu and Governor Radda would remain the preferred candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kurfi also called on other politicians to emulate what he described as the resilience and achievements of the minister within a short period in office.
