Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, senior special assistant on Media to the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the current deployment of modern security equipment and use of non-kinetic measures by the federal government have reduced security challenges across Nigeria, particularly in some vulnerable areas in the North West.

Dingyadi, a veteran journalist, politician and public affairs commentator, in a statement yesterday, noted that insecurity remains a serious concern for the federal government and other critical stakeholders.

He said the government has been doing its best to reverse the trend of insecurity in Zamfara, Kaduna,  Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto States, which constitute the epicentre of banditry in the country.

The aide added that the government and various security agencies were making concerted efforts to safeguard the life and property of law-abiding citizens.

Dingyadi said although the menace has persisted, authorities at all levels of government have not relented in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other sundry crimes nationwide.

While deploring the activities of criminal elements across the country, he expressed optimism that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

He appealed to Nigerians for patience and fervent prayers, and lamented the activities of informants, who he said were aggravating the situation.

Dingyadi also decried the politicisation of security challenges and the apparent lack of effective synergy among security agencies.

The SSA commended the giant strides of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, in facilitating ongoing efforts to curb insecurity across Nigeria.

He recalled that as a one-term Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Matawalle worked strenuously to secure the lives and property of the people.

He added: “Even now, Matawalle is unwaveringly committed to working with his other colleagues in the Defence and other sectors to stem the tide of insecurity. They are working around the clock to make the lives of Nigerians more secure and fully protected.”

Dingyadi further appealed for support and political goodwill from both the opposition and Nigerians to encourage the nation’s patriotic and gallant troops in fighting insurgency and other criminal elements in society.

He also urged the Governors to address the issues of insecurity and the provision of basic social services to citizens with greater commitment to duty, good governance, and fairness.

The media aide further commended the efforts of the APC National Working Committee under the leadership of Prof. Nentawe in providing an enabling environment for true leadership, respect, and reconciliation for all party members to sustain discipline, cohesion, and unity in the party despite some challenges after Congresses.

He assured Nigerians that APC and its candidates at all levels will never disappoint the nation when given another opportunity in 2027.
