Kevin Akpoguma has agreed to a two-year contract with newly promoted Serie A side Frosinone, with the Nigerian international set to arrive in Italy on Wednesday for his medical examination, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The 31-year-old central defender joins as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, ending a 13-year association with the German side that began in 2013. Akpoguma made only nine appearances across all competitions for Hoffenheim last season.
During his tenure at Hoffenheim, Akpoguma gained experience through loan spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96 before establishing himself as a first-team regular.
The defender, who represented Germany at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria, has earned eight caps for the Super Eagles.
Frosinone earned promotion to Italy’s top flight after finishing as runners-up to Venezia in Serie B last season.
