In an interview with LEADERSHIP, the mother of the victim, Hadiza Bojude said her child was shot on the leg and sustained a fracture and lost one of his toes on the fateful day.

She said after the occurrence of the incident, there was protest by the youths in the community and government officials reached out to the family to apologise and claimed it was an accidental discharge.

According to her, the governor also sent them a sum of N70, 000 as compensation, decrying that since then, nobody from the government was sent to see her and his wives and children for some weeks now.

Hadiza stated that her son is the breadwinner in the house as he caters for her, his sisters, two wives and seven children lamenting that now that he is injured, there is no one to shoulder their responsibilities.

“He is our bread winner and he is the one providing everything for us. He was going to the venue of the rally to watch it when the incident happened. He had a fracture on his leg as a result and one of his toes was damaged,” she explained.

Also, one of his wives, Salamatu appealed to the government for more support saying their husband has two wives, seven children in addition to his mother and siblings.

“There has been no message from the state government since after the money they first gave us. And he is the one who fends for everyone here. We appeal for more help from the government,” she pleaded.

However, our correspondent gathered that the state government has sponsored the treatment of the victim at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe.
