The factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, Professor Chris Imumolen, has told Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is also the Accord Party candidate, to leave President Bola Tinubu out of what he described as “his self-inflicted woes,” saying the governor has failed the people of Osun State despite the huge monthly allocations accruing to the state.

The factional chairman further declared that the people of Osun State are prepared to vote Adeleke out in the August 15 governorship election over what he described as the governor’s poor performance.

Adeleke, however, enjoys the support of the Maxwell Mgbudem-led faction of the Accord Party. More so, Adeleke and Accord Party had openly adopted Tinubu as their 2027 presidential candidate. https://leadership.ng/adeleke-accord-party-adopt-tinubu-as-2027-presidential-candidate/

However, Imumolen, in a statement, claimed that reports from across the state indicate widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration.

He said the electorate in Osun State are politically sophisticated and will prioritise governance, accountability and tangible performance over political theatrics when they head to the polls.

The Accord Party chairman criticised Governor Adeleke for failing to deliver meaningful development to the people of Osun State despite receiving substantial monthly statutory allocations from the Federal Government.

Imumolen urged the governor to take full responsibility for what he described as his administration’s shortcomings and stop deflecting blame onto external forces.

He said the lack of visible progress across critical sectors was a clear indication of an administration that had lost its focus.

According to Imumolen, internal and independent data indicate that the governor’s political standing in the state has deteriorated significantly.

He said the governor faces an uphill task in his bid to retain his seat in the August 15 election.

The national chairman said: “Opinion polls at our disposal have clearly shown that Governor Adeleke cannot scale through the election of August 15.

“Our party had earlier charged Governor Adeleke to take governance and performance seriously, but he consistently failed to heed our warnings.

“Now, the consequences of that negligence are catching up with him. Nobody is planning to rig you out.”

Reacting to recent statements from the governor’s camp expressing concerns over potential electoral malpractice, Imumolen dismissed the claims as a pre-emptive defence aimed at explaining an anticipated defeat.

He maintained that the governor’s allegations of rigging were an attempt to divert attention from what he claimed was the electorate’s decision to reject him at the polls.

“Now that the people have concluded to vote him out, he is suddenly shouting rigging. Let it be known that nobody is planning to rig you out.

“The voters of Osun State are simply ready to hold you accountable for your woeful performance, and they will use their constitutional power to elect leadership that genuinely serves them,” Imumolen said.
