As the race for the 2027 general elections gathered momentum, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, on Friday visited Taraba State in support of Governor Agbu Kefas’ re-election bid.

Prof Yilwatda declared that, the governor’s proposed ticket with the party’s deputy national women leader, Hon Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim, is “a sure ticket,” for the party’s victory in 2027.

The APC national chairman, who arrived at the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo, at about 6pm to a rousing reception by party leaders, government officials and mammoth supporters, also praised President Bola

Tinubu’s administration for the unprecedented federal infrastructure investment in Taraba State.
Addressing party faithful shortly after his arrival, the APC national chairman said, no previous administration had delivered the level of federal presence currently being witnessed in the state, as the administration of Governor Agbu kefas.

“Never before has Taraba witnessed such a strong federal presence within a single presidential term as it is experiencing under President Bola Tinubu.

“From the construction of the Lau-Karim Bridge to the construction and dualisation of the Ibi-Pankshin Road, among many other projects, the state’s infrastructure is receiving unprecedented federal attention,” he said.

The visit took a different political dimension, when Governor Kefas formally unveiled Hon Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The development, however ended weeks of speculation over his choice of deputy. This is the first, in the history of the state that Taraba will be featuring female politician as running mate in the state.

In an immediate endorsement, Yilwatda threw the weight of the APC national leadership behind the ticket.

“The ticket of Governor Agbu Kefas and my sister, Anty Zee, is a sure ticket,” the APC chairman declared, which drew a loud applause from party supporters.

The endorsement is widely seen as an early signal of the party’s strategy to consolidate its growing influence in Taraba as political parties begin positioning for the 2027 elections.

During the visit, Yilwatda is expected to hold closed-door meetings with party executives, elected officials and other critical stakeholders on the strategies to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structures, mobilise members and enhance the party’s electoral prospects in the state.

The visit was part of the APC leadership’s nationwide consultations, aimed at repositioning the party and sustaining support for the Tinubu administration ahead of the next general elections.
