MOC, LOC Set For Enugu Facility Inspection Ahead Of 2026 National Sports Festival

Preparations for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged Coal City Games Enugu 2026, will enter another crucial phase as the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and Local Organising Committee (LOC) move to inspect sports facilities and other key infrastructure across Enugu State.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Enugu State Government disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, as efforts intensify to ensure the successful hosting of Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event.

According to the statement signed by Kola Daniel, Special Adviser on Media to the Director-General of the NSC, the MOC delegation is expected to arrive in Enugu on August 25, with the comprehensive inspection scheduled for August 26 and 27.

The exercise will culminate in the unveiling of the official Coal City Games logo and mascot on August 28, according to the LOC.

The inspection will focus on the readiness of competition and training venues, accommodation facilities, transportation and logistics arrangements, supporting infrastructure and other operational requirements for the Games.

It will also enable the MOC and LOC to assess the progress of preparations, identify areas requiring urgent attention and agree on measures to ensure that outstanding facilities and operational structures are delivered within the stipulated timelines.

Director-General of the NSC and Chairman of the MOC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, will lead the Commission’s delegation to Enugu for the inspection.

The NSC said the exercise forms part of its continued engagement with the Enugu State Government to keep preparations for the 23rd National Sports Festival on course and ensure that the facilities and arrangements meet the required standards.

The Commission expressed confidence that the collaboration between the MOC and LOC would contribute to the successful delivery of the Games in line with internationally accepted standards, while further strengthening Nigeria’s rich sporting heritage.

The Coal City Games Enugu 2026 is scheduled to bring together athletes from across the country for competition in various sporting events.
