Osun Election 2026: Adeleke Alleges APC Plan To Move Results Directly To Collation Centre

The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to bypass the established result collation process by moving election results directly from polling units to the collation centre.

Adeleke made the allegation shortly after casting his vote at Unit 9, Ward 2, in Ede North Local Government Area, where he arrived at 8:29 a.m, ahead of the scheduled 8:30 a.m. commencement of voting.

The governor cast his ballot at exactly 8:32 a.m., as voters and INEC ad hoc staff were already at the polling unit.

Speaking after voting, Adeleke also raised an alarm over the alleged presence of a police officer identified as “London” from Port Harcourt, whom he accused of being brought to Ede to disrupt the election.

“I understand that the APC brought him to Osun State to carry out a hatchet job and cause disruption in my town, Ede, so that people will not be able to vote,” Adeleke alleged.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police, the police commissioner and other security agencies deployed for the election to investigate the matter and take necessary action.

“I also urge all my people in Ede to be vigilant,” he said.

On the collation of results, Adeleke alleged that there were plans to move results directly to the collation centre instead of following the normal process from polling units to wards and then local government areas.

“I also have it on good authority that they do not want to follow the normal process of moving from the polling units to the wards and then to the local governments. Instead, they want to take the process straight to the collation centre.

“This is not acceptable. They must follow the rules, and that is why I am alerting my people to watch out,” Adeleke said.

Meanwhile, voting remained peaceful and orderly in Ede, the governor’s hometown, with large numbers of voters turning out early across polling units.

As early as 7:00 a.m., voters had gathered at various polling stations, with long queues extending to adjoining roads, while INEC officials conducted the accreditation process.

An elderly voter in his early 80s denied receiving any financial inducement to turn out, saying residents voluntarily came to vote for Adeleke.

“No one gave us any money. We decided to come out this way, and as early as it is, to cast our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke. He is our son and we want him to win a second time,” he said.

The voting exercise was generally peaceful at polling centres visited in Ede, while police personnel and military vehicles patrolled the streets to maintain security and ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.
