“This Is The Heart Of Abuja” — Man Laments As Cows Take Over City Streets

A man has sparked conversation online after expressing disbelief at seeing a herd of cows moving along the streets of Abuja, with vehicles forced to wait for the animals to pass.

In a video circulating on social media, the man captured the unusual scene while highlighting the contrast between Abuja’s status as Nigeria’s capital and the sight of cattle navigating its busy roads.

“This is the heart of Abuja. Imagine vehicles waiting for cows to pass,” he said while filming the procession.

The sight has generated mixed reactions online, with some users expressing concern about the safety implications of cattle moving freely along major roads, while others described the scene as a familiar reality in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

The presence of cattle on Abuja roads has periodically raised concerns about traffic disruption, road safety and the risks posed to both motorists and herders.

For the man behind the video, however, the sight was particularly striking because of the location, which he described as “the heart of Abuja.”

The footage has since drawn attention to the long-running challenge of managing interactions between livestock, herders, motorists and the rapidly expanding urban environment of the nation’s capital.
