Former Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy has joined Championship side Burnley on a contract that runs until the end of the current season.
The 39-year-old forward, who remains Leicester’s all-time record Premier League goalscorer with 145 top-flight strikes, arrives at Turf Moor as a free agent following his departure from Italian club Cremonese in the summer.
Vardy originally left Leicester for Serie A side Cremonese in 2025 after a trophy-laden 13-year spell with the Foxes. His stint in Italy concluded at the end of last season, and he has since been without a club before agreeing terms with the Clarets.
The move sees Vardy join a Burnley side still searching for their first league victory of the campaign. The Lancashire club currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table and will look to the veteran’s experience and proven goal-scoring pedigree to spark a turnaround in their fortunes.
Speaking upon the announcement, Vardy expressed his eagerness to contribute to the club’s cause. “This club has a proper footballing history and passionate fans who deserve a team that represents them and their town,” he told the club’s official website.
Burnley are expected to register Vardy in time for their upcoming league fixture as they battle to climb out of the relegation zone.
