FCT FA Targets Global Partnerships, Investment At World Football Summit

Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), Adam Mouktar Mohammed, is seeking international partnerships and investment opportunities to strengthen football development in the nation’s capital through his participation at the World Football Summit 2026 in Madrid, Spain.

The summit, which brings together football administrators, clubs, leagues, federations, investors, technology companies and commercial stakeholders from across the global football industry, provides the FCT FA with an opportunity to connect with potential partners and gain insights into modern football development models.

Mohammed’s participation is particularly significant for the FCT FA as the association seeks to improve its approach to youth development, coach education, infrastructure, technology and the commercialisation of football in Abuja.

He said the summit would enable him to study global best practices and explore partnerships that could be adapted to the FCT and the wider Nigerian football environment.

“For Nigerian football to fulfil its enormous potential, we must continue to engage with the global football ecosystem, learn from successful models and, importantly, build partnerships that can be adapted to our own environment,” Mohammed said.

He identified youth talent identification and development, coaching education, football infrastructure, digital innovation and investment as key areas of interest at the summit.

For the FCT FA, such international engagement could provide access to expertise, technology and potential commercial partnerships capable of improving grassroots football structures and creating clearer development pathways for young players in Abuja.

Mohammed also stressed the wider economic and social value of football, arguing that the sport could contribute to job creation, youth empowerment and investment while enhancing Nigeria’s international profile.

He said his objective was to return from Madrid with relationships and practical ideas that could translate into tangible improvements within the football ecosystem.

The summit also gives the FCT FA an opportunity to present Abuja as a potential destination for football investment and showcase the city’s talent pool and wider market potential to international stakeholders.

Mohammed’s participation comes as football associations increasingly seek to complement traditional administration and competitions with international partnerships, technology and commercially sustainable development models.
